Over the years, we have released somewhere around 28 episodes of our KidsTalk webshow. We created the show to provide kid-friendly content that was fun, engaging, and surprising. We taste-tested food, shared recipes, and talked about various topics and themes that interested the kids. But the time has finally come, KidsTalk is no more. Say hello to FamilyTalk! Our kids have grown up and are no longer kids. We still want to produce fun kid-friendly content, but we we realize, calling it kids talk is no longer accurate. So let us introduce you to, FamilyTalk! Like KidsTalk, FamilyTalk will be a mix of taste-tests, recipe sharing, crafts, Lego builds, holiday fun, and conversations. It will still be kid-friendly and family focused. This holiday season, we will share a number of episodes that focus on family traditions, holiday fun, yummy snacks and foods, and of course our annual Vlogmas series. So be sure to subscribe and follow along! Shop our Thanksgiving Tees...

Shop the Shirt Shop for our Thanksgiving Tees! One of the Halloween traditions we have loved sharing in, is our annual pumpkin carving. Carving pumpkins has been a family activity for as long as our oldest boys were able to use one of those small pumpkin craving kids. And, every year, we set aside some time to gather around the table to clean out and carve our Halloween pumpkins. Over the years, our team of pumpkin carvers has created all sorts of wonderful designs. From the traditional Jack-O-Lantern designs, to our favorite move themes, spots themes, toys, and characters. We have carved, painted, or decorated dozens of pumpkins. It's been a fun way of preparing for the trick- or-treat Watch our 2021 Pumpkin Carving Vlog...In these more recent years, our pumpkin carving team has begun to shrink in numbers. Of the 5 kids, it usually ends up being just Amy, Jay, and Breya. With our older kids becoming adults, they're not always available to gather together to carve pumpkins. Last year (2020), our pumpkin carving crew consisted of just three of us. The older boys were busy and unable to be with us. I guess that's part of the growing up and out experience. However, this year, we were super excited to have a few more carvers join us for this years tradition. It's always a lot of fun to share in our family traditions. But it's even more fun when we get to enjoy our family traditions with our family! Our kids are getting older. They are beginning to have their own lives. Keeping our traditions is be coming more and more of a challenge. And, they're not always as willing to jump on the vlog like when they were younger. But tonight was a sweet night. We were able to sit down and carve our pumpkins with our kids. We laughed. We enjoyed time together. And we held on to one more family tradition. Thanks for taking a few minutes to join us here on the blog. We want to invite you to be sure to follow along. As we approach the end of the year, we are hoping to share as much of the holiday's, our family traditions, and the joys that come with being a family! Life in the Higham House is a blog for the home and family. We create family friendly and family focused content. All with we hope to encourage more family moments for you and your kids! - the higham family

When we were a very young couple, the months we spent engaged and the early months that followed as newly weds, it was impressed upon us that we needed to commit to making time for one another. Now you might think, "Well, as newly, spending time together is a no brainer." And yes, that might be true. But the commitment goes beyond those sweet simple times of learning to live together as husband and wife. That commitment is the foundation that leads to a habit of using our time wisely; taking control of our lives, our time, and our marriage before the busyness of life takes over.
We think there are a few things that couples must strive for as they think about their relationship and the longevity of their marriage. A Deep Spiritual Relationship

Okay, parents, here's a question for you, Do YOU dress up for Halloween? Our guess is that some of you do. But as we being think about our time of neighborhood trick-or-treating, we're wondering how many husbands and wives, mom's and dads get dressed up for Halloween? Over the years we have worn our fair share of costumes, mostly for our student ministry or kids ministry costume parties or something similar. But we can't remember a time when we have ever dressed up for work or for trick-or-treating with the kids. But it seems that more and more parents are dressing in costumes for the festivities of the season. So we want to know. Do you dress up for Halloween? |
We think our kids were just as confused as we were. But as the years went on we decided to see Halloween as an opportunity to be in with our neighbors. We shared about that decision in this post, It's Almost Here...Again.
What we are curious to know is, do you dress up for Halloween?
Do you coordinate with your family/wife, or do you go rogue?
Are you planning on dressing up this year? If so, who or what are you dressing up to be this year?
Do you ever attend costume parties?
We'd love to hear from you, so please comment below.
And watch for more posts coming this month as we share some ideas on how to make the most of the Halloween season.
