It's that time of the year again, SUMMER CAMP!! We love summer camp! Every summer we make multiple trips to our favorite summer camp as the kids participate and enjoy camp, and Amy and Jay lead our three-week day camp. This week it's day camp, so Jay, Amy, Aiden, Asher, and Breya are all at camp working with our day camp campers! But our vlog isn't about day camp. Sure we're at camp, but it wouldn't be right to vlog during programming. So we're vlog our adventures in and around camp. And let me tell you, you will definitely want to watch Wednesday's vlog post. Something happens that causes Amy to go all "momma bear." It's hilarious! For today though, enjoy watching, "We're At Camp!"
After all the years of watching the boys play their sports, Breya's time to shine has finally come. Breya participated in you very first dance recital. This fall she started taking classes at a local dance school. She chose ballet making this is her first dance recital in ballet.
As you will see, she does a great job! We were so excited and so happy to see do so well. Enjoy watching Breya's First Dance Recital! Watch Breya's Dance Recital! It's our yearly tradition, the Last Day of School! Every year we celebrate the last day of school with water balloons, water squirters, silly string, and confetti. It's always a great day! Check out the vlog and read about our day! We started this a number of years ago, waiting for the kids to get home from school on the last day of the year, and having crazy fun with them. As the kids have gotten older, it's become a little more of a challenge, and yet a lot more fun. This year, we had to wait for two bus stops, with number 4 getting home at one time then #5 getting home almost an hour later. That simply meant that we had to set up for two rounds of fun. The water balloons were easy. We picked up a couple packages of the quick fill, self-sealing water balloons. A couple of bins, a garden hose, and in about 5 minutes we had over 200 water balloons filled and ready to go. Silly string is another fun element. It makes a little bit of a mess, but totally worth it because of the fun. We have found it easiest to just hose off the sidewalk and grass and the silly string dissolves pretty quickly. This year we added confetti poppers to the mix. Jay used larger confetti poppers this past winter at a retreat with our student ministry. It was super cool to pop the cannons and fill the room with confetti. So we grabbed a couple smaller "poppers" and had some fun. This nice thing about the confetti is that the paper virtually dissolves when it gets wet. Watch the vlog - The Last Day of School 2019After we made a mess in the yard, we cleaned up and made our way to lunch. Our plans were to visit Chick-fil-A (surprise, surprise) but the stores was absolutely packed. So instead, we went to Chipotle, which was perfect. Almost no one in the restaurant. After lunch we visited a local park with playground and snack bar for a delicious snack. Ice cream for everyone! The perfect end to a perfect day. Summer vacation is here! What does the summer hold? We have some plans. But a lot depends on our our summer takes shape. We have some changes coming this summer that will definitely dictate some of our summer plans. But, we'll share some of those details in some upcoming blog posts. Stay tuned! - the Higham family |
