Family Fun - Trip to Penn State

11.01.14
Life can be crazy and amazing. It's crazy when all of a sudden your oldest kid starts thinking about college, and amazing when you get to share in the discussion and experience of the college search. Jay and Logan spend recently spent a Saturday at Penn State. It was an opportunity set up by a former coach and friend, to help expose Logan to the possibilities of college and potentially playing for a college team. I guess it was also an opportunity for us to get Logan's name out there as a future recruit.

While our trip was not an official recruiting trip, it was a great chance to get a sneak peek of what to expect and look forward to. As a sophomore, Logan, isn't quite ready for the full college search/recruiting process. Nevertheless, the experience serve to help Logan think about a few things; such as grades, athletic health and discipline, and what besides football he might want to do while at college.

For me (Jay), the whole thing was kind of surreal. I mean, to think that in just 2 years, Logan will be going away to college, and there we were, on a college campus talking with coaches and students. And while the trip served to help provide some academic focus for Logan, it also helped me to see that there's a lot of work that his mother and I will have to do to get him where he is suppose to go. Fortunately, most of that work will require that we get on our knees to ask for God's wisdom and direction in this years to come.

College. Football. As much as these thoughts are exciting, I think right now, I just want to live in the moment and enjoy the time we have with him this year.
