So… last week was busy and full. And for it being the first week of the new year, it was pretty good. Till Friday. That's when the dryer died. Again. And just as I was about to head off to work, my van died. Stuck on the driveway. Not the way we wanted the week to end.
Friday night we hosted the first of our Supper of the Higham's. Pizza. Bible study. And friends. We had a great time. Saturday was #4's birthday. He turned 8. Saturday, I worked about 85% of the day, so it wasn't much of a birthday for him. But he was so gracious and understanding. Incredible maturity for such a little guy. Today, Sunday, was awesome. Worship this morning was incredible! After church we celebrated #4's birthday with lunch at MickyD's, before heading off to Lazer Storm, for some family laser tagging! Again awesome!! We came home to a broke-down van in the driveway. I wanted to try to get the van back into the garage. So we lined the vans up and I pushed my van back up into the garage with Amy's van. I suspected the issue with my van was a fuel issue. I was right. Our driveway is a steep slope. When park on the driveway, the fuel in the tank sits funny. Friday morning, I was warming the car up when it ran dry, thanks to the slope. But I knew there was gas in the car, it was just a matter of getting it on a flat surface again. It started. A huge blessing!! We wrapped up the day with the first of our new Student Ministry at Harvest Church. So we welcomed a handful of students for some classic games; Catch Phrase and Reverse Charades. We had a blast!! So much fun. So much laughing! Oh, by the way, I'm now 12 days without a Pepsi or other carbonated beverage. And I'm up to date with my Bible In A Year Reading. Tomorrow a new week begins. I'm exhausted. But it's a good exhaustion. Time to go to bed. - jay
