Today was a day of unexpected events. One after another, our plans took an unexpected turn. And yet, it still turned out to be a pretty good day. It all started with getting stuck in traffic for over 2 hours. We made our trip to the Delaware shore in the over night hours to avoid any traffic delays. We were very fortunate that our travel time was very without incident. So it was kind of ironic that on Saturday morning as we were leaving the condo for the beach we ran into bumper to bumper traffic. We attempted a detour that would get us around the traffic. And it worked! Almost. Our detour worked. We sailed to the road that would lead us to the beach. We were super excited. Then we discovered why the traffic was so bad. It wasn't just the weekend vacationers coming and going, there had been an accident the forced the closure of the very road we were trying to get to. But instead of closing the road at the intersection, they closed the road in the middle of the street and forced everyone into a grocery store parking lot. We were stuck for over 45 minutes! As we made our way through the parking lot, we scrolled our way through Google Maps, looking for a possible route that might get us out of this mess we found ourselves in. After a few minutes we found a possible route. The map led us through a golf course community back to the road we wanted to be on. It was great, until we saw some familiar traffic cones and utility workers. That's right, we drove right into where the accident took place and the utility workers were at work. The road was closed and the we were forced to go back to where it all started. At this point we were well over the one hour mark. By the time we got back to where we needed to be, it was over two hours!! While it wasn't a bad time, it definitely set us up for more fails later in the day. For example...we planned on going miniature golfing on this evening. However, we didn't leave the condo until after 9:00 p.m. As we drove passed golf course after golf course, all we saw were long line waiting to play. Clearly we were too late to go miniature golfing. So instead, we drove down to the Ocean City Boardwalk to check it out. Totally unexpected, and totally unprepared. But it was great. Sometimes we plan, just so our plans can radically change. It's crazy, but it sometimes happens. We're just glad everyone was flexible and went with it. You can see our adventure by watching the vlog.
