With the arrival of summer comes a renewed commitment to the family vlog channel!
In the summer 2015, we set out to create family videos as a way of capturing life with our kids. Seeing how quickly our kids were growing up we knew we wanted some way of look back. Scrapbooks and photo albums are great, but they don't capture the voices, laughter, and personalities as well as video! We also wanted to be more intentional with our kids, creating opportunities where we actively attempted to produce memories that our kids would cherish.
That year we worked to capture as many moments as possible. A couple of things happened. People started subscribing to our YouTube channel. Not a lot. Most family and a few friends. Then we noticed that people were actually watching the videos. Again, not a lot, but enough to see our total views count growing. We knew about vlogging, the process of posting video on YouTube. We were already watching vloggers like the Shaytards, Roman Atwood, the Schmoyers, the Tannerites, and others like them. We were inspired and encouraged and began seeing our channel as something more.
As our channel has grown, we have realized that we have a great opportunity. As we watched other YouTube vloggers, we found that they created a space where they were able to do something positive. The Shaytards, Schmoyers and Tannerites promoted the idea of family. Atwood encouraged positivity with his signature ending. YouTubers had the ability to bring something good. And their content offered an alternative to TV.
As we thought about our channel, we knew that we could do the same. More than just capturing life, we have a platform to promote family, faith, and fun! Over the next year, we attempted to capture moments that were fun and encouraged families, but it was sporadic due our commitment to keep family first. Three years, and almost 300 videos later, we have come to love vlogging. We love sharing our story. We love making creative content for kids and family. And, we want to do more. Three years, and almost 300 videos later,
