Here we go again, friends, the holiday season is approaching quickly, very quickly. And if you know anything about the Higham House, you know that we love our holidays! Thanksgiving, Christmas, yes, even Halloween, but mostly Thanksgiving and Christmas.
It's become a bit of a tradition here at Life in the Higham House, to share our holidays with you. From the traditions to the crafts to the menus; the decorations, lights, stories, and everything else that comes with the holidays, we have enjoyed sharing the holidays with you. But over the last couple of years, the holidays around the house have changed. So many of our traditions and activities were associate with our kids. Thanksgiving dinner was a family effort with each of the kids pitching in to help prepare, cook and present the meal. We sharing what we were thankful for. We read a Thanksgiving book. We watched football. We played games. It was so much fun.
We would kick off the Christmas season with tree decorating on the Friday of the Thanksgiving weekend. Decorating the tree was a family event with all five kids. It was a spectacle with music, special snacks, and our first viewing of Elf. The rest of the week is spent decorating the house. It's been like this for just about our entire marriage.
But the holidays are changing, or at least how we celebrate the holidays is changing. Some of our traditions are going to look a little different this year. And no doubt, we will probably start a few new traditions. With our family expanding and spreading out, we will be looking to celebrate these special events in some new ways.
And it all begins next week. Monday, October 17th, 2022, will leave us exactly two weeks till Halloween night (October 31, 2022). In that time we have to carve our pumpkins, and figure out what we're doing with Halloween since we no longer have Trick-R-Treaters.
Then, it's November 1st. November 1st, people! Come on! Can you believe it?
November 1st, means the holiday season officially begins, and so will our countdown to Christmas. As in years past, we'll be sharing our holiday fun. Traditions, both old and new. The decorations. The lights. The crafts. The menus and recipes. The games. The gatherings. It will all be here for you, and for your family!
So let's do this! Bring on the holiday season! It's going to be great! - the higham family SHOP OUR HOLIDAY T-SHIRTS!
