We're a couple days away from Christmas. All the craziness and commotion are passed. And the Higham's are on an exciting adventure. This Christmas we surprised the kids with a Christmas vacation road trip. We had talked earlier in the Fall about foregoing the traditional exchanging of Christmas gifts for a vacation trip to some where warm, fun, and new. However, late in the Fall season, things didn't appear to be lining up for a trip, so we scrubbed the idea and focused on celebrating another Christmas at home. Then, a few weeks before Christmas, the opportunity came for Amy and I to rethink a trip. But through God's blessing and provision, we were able to surprise the kids with a Christmas vacation trip! Here, watch our little video. Yep, we surprised the kids with a trip to Florida for a couple of days at Universal Studios, in Orlando, FL, and some time with uncle Brian in Jacksonville. The fun thing about all of this is that for the last couple of weeks we've talked about taking a trip or adopting or going some place fun, and the possibilities of taking an adventure. But Amy and I made it clear that we were NOT going anywhere. So it was great fun when we told them the we WERE going away!
It's Sunday. Friday was spent driving. All day. Driving. We stopped 3 times for gas and potty breaks. Sat in an hours worth of traffic. We saw the sun rise and the sun set. But we made it. It was a long, long ride, but the kids were awesome. I want to share more about our time here, along with picture and video. But for now, this will get things started. So till later, Merry Christmas! - jay
