Stocking Stuffers #3: Lighted Wood Bucket

Here's a Christmas idea that we came across on Pinterest, that I loved. I've seen it before in a number of different variations and container sizes. But I wanted to create my own version of the idea and add it to ur Christmas decor. So this is our Lighted Wood Bucket.

Here's what we did.

The project is simple. You'll need a metal bucket. The size and style is up to you. I found the one we used at Walmart for $12. I liked the one we used because it had slits in it that would allow the light to shine through. It gives it an extra cool effect.

With the bucket you'll need a string of Christmas lights. We chose to go with a 100 light string. This leaves you with a ton of lights. But the bigger you go with your bucket size, the amount of lights you'll want might change. Also, look for the cheaper lights. You don't want to make this an expensive project.

Wood and greens are the remaining components. I picked up some wood from the local grocery store at the end of the summer. The greens came from a tree on our property.

Once you gathered all your materials, build your bucket. Arrange the wood and the lights as you see fit. It might take you a few minutes to arrange the wood and lights the way you want.

When I finished arranging the lights and wood, I asked Amy to throw a ribbon and bow around the bucket and we were done.

Now I went simple. But you can be as creative as you want. There are a number of variations for this on Pinterest.
