I have another Stocking Stuffer for you today. Because we want to get to 12 Stocking Stuffer ideas by Christmas, I'm posting a second stuffer idea for today. And...I really like this resource, and don't want to wait till tomorrow.

So, a couple of months back, I started reading, A Man After God's Own Heart, by Jim George. I love it. It's a great devotional for guys. Filled with short, daily readings that get right to the point and challenge guys to step out and be a man after God's own heart, makes it super appealing. No deep or difficult theology. No complicated scripture readings. No dates or numbers at the top of the page reminding you when you miss a day or two. Just a couple short paragraphs and three to four sentence prayer, and your done. But don't go thinking that it's simplicity is lacking in effective growth. The old saying, 'sometimes less is more' is totally true. In this case, less is definitely more.

Every time I read the daily devo it get's me. And I'm not jumping around. I'm not looking at the content and picking what I'm reading. It's just one after the other, one day at a time. And yet, God has used the readings to really challenge me. It's awesome.

As you are thinking about Christmas gifts, here is one that you should definitely add to the list. Now I know that for most men, if his wife gives her a book like this, it conveys that he is lacking in something and she is trying to fix him. Am I right? If that's the case, then the book is doomed to a dusty book shelve somewhere in the house never to be read or seen. No guy wants to be given a gift that comes with the feeling of manipulation.

So here's the deal. Guy's buy this book for yourself. Wrap it up and stick it under the tree with a tag that says, "Because I love my wife, I am giving ME this gift." Now you have gift that comes to you on your terms.
You see, this book isn't just about being a better husband. This book is about discovering how to live with the heart of God. Yes, there are portions that talk about how to love your wife, but there are also readings about how to connect with God, how to be a man of integrity, how to communicate, how to love your kids, how to be involved with the church and community, and how to be a better man. GUYS, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!

Available in both print and ebook editions, I know you will find spending a few short minutes each day reading, A Man After God's Own Heart, will be a great blessing for you! I downloaded the ebook version for Kindle so that it's always with me on my iPad.

Get the gift that you know you will use, order, A Man After God's Own Heart. Use the links below.

Merry Christmas!

- jay

PS - I want to know if you've read A Man After God's Own Heart, or if you've ordered it. I'd love to hear how it has challenged you to be the man God created you to be! Share your comments below!
