It happened. My #1 turned 16. Can you believe it? I can't. And yet I can. I mean, I knew it was going to happen. Last year he turned 15. It's the logical conclusion, this year he turns 16. What I can't believe is, with 16 now here, how much life is about to change him and us. 16 is one of those rite of passage years. In PA, 16 is time when one can begin driving. It's also, when work begins. 16 is another year closer to adulthood. It's that point in life when we think we can go out with friends. I remember at 16 getting my lifeguarding certification. I remember going to the roller rink on Friday nights to skate. I remember riding the "EL" in Philly by myself and going downtown and the Philadelphia Zoo. These were big events. And now, I will watch as similar "big" events will come into his life. 16 years. Amazing really, From a chubby, scale-topping, chart-busting bouncing baby boy, to a handsome, 6'-3" young man of quiet faith and integrity. Independent, self reliant, responsible, dependable, and convicted, God is molding his heart and his life. As a parent I am so proud of how hard he works to accomplish the goals he is setting for his life. I can't wait to see what all God has in store for him. Happy birthday, #1. Your mother and I are so proud of who you are becoming. We pray that you will continue to submit your life to God and allow him to lead you in His grace and love. - Dad PS - Was this post helpful, insightful, encouraging, or thought provoking? Great!
