![]() By now, many of us have heard about the ridiculous suspension of Phil Robertson, from one of the top ranked, most watched TV shows, Duck Dynasty. Phil was suspended after his personal opinion to a question asked in an interview with GQ magazine. For as many have heard, almost as many have posted comments, blogged, tweeted, and shared their opinions and thoughts in support of the Robertson's. And while I too have thought about sharing some thoughts about Phil's comments and the reaction from the opposing voices, I have decided instead to make a simple statement of support for the Robertson family and to share a link to a post by Matt Walsh, that I found to hilariously clever, insightful, and thought provoking. Along with the link to Matt's article, I am also attaching a link to the official statement from the Robertson family. So here it is. I agree with and support the belief's of Phil Robertson. Scripture is Scripture. It is clear in matters of sin; all sin. And whether we like it or not, it is what it is. No one likes to be called out for the sin in our lives. But that's what the Bible does. It shares with us the amazing love of God, while teaching us what sin is and how we should lives of grace, love, and holiness. And until we recognize that it is our sin that separates us for God, we will never fully know the fullness of our Creator's love. Phil shared his opinion in response to a question in an interview. Unfortunately, his opinion, and personally held belief's, are not the same as those who continue to live life according to their own wants and desires. Phil has become the latest target of an agenda that only has space on their soapbox of tolerance and acceptance for those who share their beliefs. Way to go Phil! You could have given a safe, yuppy answer, but instead, you stood boldly on the foundations of your faith and spoke Truth. Too bad not everyone is ready to hear the Truth. Here is the post from Matt Walsh…
The Robertson's Response to the A&E Suspension of Phil, from the Duck Dynasty website.
I'm sure we will hear more about this in the days and weeks to come. But having read the two posts I attached above, I'd love to hear your thoughts. What do you think about Matt's blog post? What do you think about the Robertson's response? Let me know by leaving a comment on this page! Thanks. - jay
