Our Fourth of July Weekend 2017

There were fireworks, picnics, friends, traveling, and some great memories! Fourth of July in the Higham House consisted of 5 days of family fun as we tried to take advantage of a number of weekend opportunities and some pretty awesome weather!

​It all got started Friday afternoon as we fired up the grill for some dinner and enjoyed our evening as a family at the house. We still weren't sure what the weekend was going to look like,  but we knew we wanted to make the most of our time!

Saturday started with rain, which we thought might crush any hope for a fun day. But after the down pour, the skies cleared and the sun came out, and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. So we decided to get in the family van and make our way west. We have never visited Wheeling, despite living here in Western PA for almost 19 years. It turned out to be a wonderful adventure!

Sunday was a busy day with church in the morning, a great 4th of July picnic at the home of some friends from church, and a road trip to the Laurel Mountains to hang out with our friends the Pope's!
​

Monday was a blast as we enjoyed the day hanging out with the Pope kids! The Pope's are walking through a difficult season as one of their amazing kiddos is currently in the hospital. We love the Pope's. They have been dear friends of ours for years. So we want to go and spend some time with them and just love on them. So we did. But I think we were blessed more that we were a blessing.

We had so much fun this weekend. June was a super busy month with camp, VBS, kids working, Amy working, and me preaching and juggling the student ministry. We decided to try really heard to have fun with the kids; to slow down a bit and just breathe. Even though we did a lot, it was still good.
