For the last two weeks, Asher has been running around with a bright green cast on his left wrist. After taking a fall, we've been waiting to rule out fracture in his wrist. This past Monday, Asher and Jay went to the orthopedic specialist for the two week follow up appointment. The big question we wanted answered is, "Is it broken, or not?"
The plan, two weeks with a cast, then return to have it reevaluated and x-rayed to see if there was a brake.
If there was a brake, it would mean a cast for another 6 to 8 weeks. No brake means no more cast. But the only way for us to really know is to come back for another x-ray.
The second x-rays were taken, but it was hard to see if there was fracture. The doctor compared both sets of x-rays and even he said he couldn't see any difference. However, upon physical examination, the spot of the injury was still very tender to the touch. So while there was no visible break, there is still some healing that needs to happen.
The final word, a brace for two more weeks.
So while it's not fractured, Asher will need to wear a brace for another two weeks. This will protect the wrist and allow it to finish healing. Hopefully, all will be healed in time for basketball season. We will go back again in 2 weeks to have the wrist evaluated for a third time. We're going to pray that between now and then, God heals Asher's wrist completely. And of course we'll come back and update you with the latest news. Thanks for all your prayers! - the higham family - Watch the Vlog...
