I always knew that a mother's heart is deeply connected to her children's, but never have I felt that so strongly as I have in this move. We've moved many times and while all of them have been a challenge in their own way, this one has its own obstacles. Our oldest 3 children are beginning 11th, 10th and 7th grades. As with anyone this age, emotions and hormones can be unpredictable. As we discussed the possibility of the move with each of the 3 boys, none of them were happy or excited, not even a little bit. The fears and worries had overtaken each of them at varying times. As we dropped them off on what would be their first morning in their new school, my heart was especially heavy. We had been and continued to pray for them all day, along with a lot of our friends and family. They left the guidance office with their schedules in hand and entered a new, unfamiliar school with unfamiliar faces and many differences from what they were used to in their previous schools. I turned away from the door and let the tears fall. I understood their fears and worries and yet I knew that God would be with them and would walk the hallways with them. I have been telling the boys that no matter where we go, or what we do, all we need is the knowledge of God's love and presence. I bathed them in that prayer all day. Let me share with you how faithful our Lord is. I picked up the boys in the same office that I left them and as they walked into the room, all 3 of them gave me full faced smiles. Knowing my boys the way that I do, I knew in my heart God had blessed their day. They were full of joy and excitement about the new school as we rode home. All 3 had different stories about how good their day was, how nice people were, and how relaxed they felt all day. I knew in my heart that that was the faithfulness of my God displayed in their lives that day and I was rejoicing with them in my heart. Had I not been in tune with their hearts, I would've missed an opportunity to see God at work. How thankful I am that I get to serve a God who cares about the things on our hearts, no matter how big or how small! - amy ![]() Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl. We juggle the adventures of life and ministry and share what we are learning as it relates to marriage, family, raising kids, serving in the church, and chasing after Jesus. Raising a family is hard work, especially in today's culture. But our hope is to encourage you and your family, as we live for the glory of God.
