It's been a long time coming, but we're finally here with our Living Room Fall Makeover for 2022! It's taken a little longer than expected as we tweaked and adjusted the decor, but we are really excited to share our living room with you.
Picture
The focal point of our living room is alway our fireplace. During the Covid lock downs, Amy painted the fireplace white, creating the background for all of our decorating. The mantle, as much as we know, was made by the houses former owner, and serves as the foundation for our decor.

The decor of the mantle includes items from Southern Living at Home, Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, and Walmart. But as you look at the mantle you'll see a selection of pumpkins, colored leaves, candles, lanterns and a clay pitcher. The capstone of the mantle are the words, GIVE THANKS, a time wall decor item from Hobby Lobby. A string of twinkle light provide just the right amount of backlighting to warm the room.

Next is our entryway table. Simple, yet, inviting, this area is framed with two lamps that we picked up at a yard sale this summer. They fit perfectly on this high table that we bought at TJ Maxx a number of years ago. On the lower part fo the table are two handmade fabric pumpkins that Amy made years ago. They're some of our favorite items for the fall. Across from the pumpkins is a square jack-lantern box.

Atop the table in the center is our Southern Living at Home Barley Twist Pedestal. The wheat bundle was purchased a couple years ago, we think, from TJ Maxx. To the right sits a chair that Amy refinished, and to the left, the Southern Living at Home Entertaining Bucket, filled with pine cones, and leaves, twinkle lights, and various fall ornaments and potpourri. And let's not forget the incredible slap of wood that stands behind the bucket. It's a great accent piece.

Our bookshelves are an area that we still need to work on in the coming seasons. As much as we would love to see these bookshelves serve in a more decorative way, they are used in particle ways. But we have tried to leave a few marks of Fall. An assortment of leaves, pumpkins, and candles add just a touch of Fall.

Scattered around the room are small touches of color and warmth. Here on one of our side tables a bundle of faux cotton, a wooden apple, a spiced candle, and some pumpkins.

The thing about decorating is the small touches as much as the larger focal points. By remembering how to include side tables, coffee tables, even chairs. Add pillows and throw blankets to your sofa or arm chair helps to bring the entire room into the large theme of your decorating. Don't be afraid to mix colors and textures as you find a look and style to fits you and your home.

There are a few areas that we haven't photographed just yet, including our sofa and chairs. We'll share those pictures on our Instagram and Facebook later.

In the center of our living room we have an old trunk. We love it. We found it at a friends yard sale a couple of years ago. The trunk is a great piece and lends well for staging and decor. Last year with topped the trunk with this metal trough from Hobby Lobby. Because we loved the way it looked, we did the same this year.

Like last year, we filled the trough with pine cones, pumpkins and various potpourri items. Lined with a string of battery-operated twinkle lights, the centerpiece comes to life.

It's still one of our favorite pieces within our Fall collection. It just looks great in the room and on the trunk. We absolutely love it!

We really enjoy decorating for the Fall season. The colors, the smells, the warmth of candles and fires, we love all that the Fall offers. Our favorite time is in the evening as we dim the lights, light a few candles, turn on the twinkle lights and watch the fire dance.

What do you love about the Fall? The colors? The smells? The pumpkins? The decorations.
