It has become kind of a tradition to vlog our Thanksgiving Eve and our Thanksgiving day. Like so many other moments in family life, being able to capture these sweet, holiday memories has truly become a treasure for us. As the kids grow, we are able to look back, watch, and listen the special times in our family life. And, we are more than happy to share our day with you. So let watch this years, Life in the Higham House Thanksgiving Special! Then scroll down for our menu, list of games, and some final thoughts! This year's menu...Amy and the kids did an amazing job with the food. As is our tradition, the kids each help Amy with a different part of the meal prep. However this year, we recognized that with our kids getting older, working, and having moved out, there are few dishes that Amy has to make without the kids help. But the hope is that in the future, we'll be able to gather together as a family (perhaps a little bigger by then) and be able to share once again in the dinner prep. We'll see what happens. Any who, let's get into this years menu!
For dessert we enjoyed a homemade pumpkin pie, a pumpkin roll we picked up at the groceries store, homemade Christmas cookies, and an absolutely gorgeous (and delicious) Bailey's Cheesecake that Amy makes. Seriously, it is amazing!!! We were thinking about sharing the recipes for our Thanksgiving dishes, but aren't sure if anyone would be interested in them. If you would like to see our recipes, let us know in the comments, we think it would be fun to post them for you. Family Game Time...Last year, we started playing organized games as a family. Now we have tried board games in the past, but our kids really aren't board game kids. But we started including some simple, Minute To Win It style games, as a way to keep the kids from hiding in their rooms or on the devices and more connected through the day. This year, since a couple of the kids had to work, we decided to play the games after dinner, so everyone could play and have fun. Here's the run down.
Yes, the kids had to work. Yes, our oldest is in another state. But it was still a great day! Another Thanksgiving for the scrapbook of family life. Believe us when we say, we treasure these times. We've talked a lot on the blog about how fast the time has gone, and how quickly our kids are growing up. it seems that while a lot of people say, "it goes by fast..." no one really prepares you for it. We get all wrapped up in the getting by, and we forget to stop and enjoy the moment. We say, "Remember the good ol' days..." but "these are the good ol' days." These are the days, the moments, the memories that matter. The laughter. The smiles. The joy. Making the most of times like these is what matters most. We hope that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that you took time to be thankful for all that God has, is, and is continuing to do in your life. We are grateful for you. We may have a small audience of support, but we are grateful for everyone who watches a vlog or reads a post! And, we're thankful that we have an opportunity to share the good things God is doing in our family, our lives, and our ministries! We are truly blessed! - the higham family
