With our summer not turning out quite as we had hoped, we're doing our best to squeeze in a little adventure on the weekends. After three weekends of ministry, we managed to get away this past weekend, to head north to visit with our son, Nate and his family in New York state.
It was a special weekend as we celebrated their pregnancy with a baby shower. But we'll talk about that later. The weekend was packed with activities, visiting with family, and meet new friends. And of course we got some grandparent time with our little Ace. But Saturday, we loaded in the the Expedition and made our way towards Letchworth State Park in, Castile, New York. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and the park was incredible.
Along with the the incredible views provided by the river and gorge, the park has plenty of space of picnics, camping, playgrounds, fields, fishing, hiking, and exploring. The visitors center offers restrooms, information, and a gift shop. The is a nature center, and a couple other shops and restaurants to visit and enjoy.

As our kids continue to get older, these trips become all the more precious. And knowing that they enjoy spending time together and in places like Letchworth, gives us all the more reason to continue to wanting to explore and adventure as a family.
We never did much in the way of exploring when the kids were younger. Having 5 ranging from preteen to toddler, meant that our kids were all in different staging of growth and ability. While one or two might have been able to hike a trail or splash through a creek, there was always one or two that would need to be carried. Mix in ministry, school and community sports, part-time jobs, and life commitments, traveling and exploring can be a bit of a challenge. But now that we are on the other side of that season of life, we are enjoying the freedoms of traveling and exploring together.
We've talked a lot on the blog about how fast time goes, and just how quickly our kids have grown. We've shared how in this season of transition, we have had to learn how to parent young adults and teenagers. One of the sweetest parts is being able to share in these adventures as a family. To be able to enjoy time together. To be able to explore, discover, and experience something special. We loved raising our kids, watching them grow, seeing their personalities develop, and become the young men and woman God is shaping our them to be. What a true honor and privilege it is.
If you and your family look forward to sharing experiences like the one we had at Letchworth State Park, let us encourage you to look up Letchworth and plan your visit. Check out the Letchworth website here: Letchworth State Park.
We're looking forward to more adventures coming, so stay tuned!
