Jay's Journey with Essential Oils

8/8/2016

Last Wednesday (August 3rd, 2016) we posted a special blog that introduced our new partnership with Young Living. Young Living is a company that promotes "the life-changing benefits of essential oils to every home, family, and lifestyle." In the post, The Journey Begins, we announced the we were taking 30 days to get to know and try essential oils. We felt, if we were going to promote and share these products, we needed to first become convinced that that oils really did what they said they did.

Today, I (Jay) wanted to take a few minutes to share my goals and how I am using the products over these 30 days. So let me begin with what I hope to achieve.

1. Weight Loss - Plain and simple, I need to lose some what. But not just losing the weight, I can stand to lose a few bad habits that I've picked up over the years. So when I heard that there were essential oils that helped with weight loss and hunger suppression, I thought I've got to try it. My goal is to lose about 40 pounds over the next couple of months. But for our 30 day challenge, I think drop somewhere between 10 to 15 pounds might be a great start.

2. Allergy Relief - I have struggled with allergies since I was a teenager. And while I have learned to control most them, especially the seasonal allergies, this last year have been a tough one. For the last year, I have been fighting with congestion. Constant stuffy nose, sinus pressure, headaches, and breathing issues have been wearing me down.  But after attending a Young Living event, I learned that a diffuser along with a few mixed essential oils might help offer some allergy relief.

3. More Energy, Less Stress - With the goal of losing some weight, there is the goal of having more energy and less stress. I want to be able to spend time with our kids actually DOING things with them and not just watching. But over the last couple of years, I've allowed work stress to keep me on the sidelines. It's time to get back in the game and have fun with my kids.

So what am I doing to reach these goals?

Along with the essential oils, I know that I weight loss comes with a certain level of personal discipline. Essential oils are not a magic pill that you pop and 'PRESTO' you've lost 20 pounds. The oils will help to suppress hunger, but I still need to do my part. So along with the essential oils I am returning to a simple exercise routine, cutting out some problematic foods, and taking smaller portions.

For the last week, I've been utilizing our diffuser while sleeping. The diffuser and the essential oil mix has already made a dramatic improvement with my allergies. The mix opens my sinus passages and reduces the amount of congestion and pressure. It has allowed for better sleeping without the constant struggle to breath.

And while I see these first two goals working individually, combined they are already beginning to help with the third goal of more energy. As the weight comes off and the allergies resolve, a better nights sleep and a healthier lifestyle are providing me with more energy. And that is helping me become more and more active with the kids.

Now, this is just the beginning. Our challenge is for 30 days, so we have quite away to go before we can say that we're totally into the essential oils lifestyle. However, it has been a good start.

So...what oils am I using? Well, that you will have to wait for. Like I said, this is just the beginning of our journey. But we promise we will share all the details; the results of our 30 days, what essential oils we used, and what we did to change our lifestyle. And we will share how you can use the same essential oils and practices, helping you to take control of your health and live a young and healthy lifestyle.

Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 20 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl! We juggle the adventures of life and full-time ministry and share what we are learning as it relates to marriage, family, raising kids, serving in the church, and chasing after Jesus. We know that raising a family is hard work, especially in today's culture. But our hope is to encourage you and your family, as we live for the glory of God. This is our story.
