![]() It was an amazing 4th of July. I know we've said that a number of times already, but it really was! From the start of activities on Friday morning straight through till Sunday night, it was non-stop fun and festivity. The weekend began with a bit of a surprise. Jay found out Thursday that the offices where he works were closed on Friday, July 3rd. We had been planning and expecting to have Monday, July 6th off. But it actually worked to our advantage and we made full use of the time. So we kicked things off with a double header. Baseball at 8:00 in the morning. From there we launched into a an exciting building project, a rabbit hutch for our soon to be arriving bunnies! But we'll talk about the bunnies later. Saturday, the 4th, rolled in and it was another early start to the day. Our 2 oldest boys were both walking in the parade, so we had to get the to the starting line early. The parade itself started at 10:00 a.m. We had a great location for the parade. Thanks to our friends, the Payne's, who secure the same location we had last year! As the parade got started, we were front row and ready for the candy! Our family photo minus #1 and #2 who were walking in the parade, plus the addition of our California Cousin, Christopher, who was visiting with us! Here are the boys as they walked the parade. The school athletes carry the banners of parade sponsors. If you walk, you get a donation that goes to the teams boosters in their names. It's a super easy way to earn a few extra dollars for the teams! Plus, it's fun to see your kids walking in the community parade. Of course the parade had your usual parade participant; emergency vehicles, Shriners, bands, dancers, politicians, floats, local businesses and churches, community groups, and military representatives. It was a great parade. We had a lot of fun. And it was great to share that time with friends. After the parade, we all gathered again at our house for dinner, a campfire, and fireworks. It was a sweet time of fellowship and friends. Instead of boring you here with all the photos, we have set up a slideshow. Click on the link below to watch the slide show. It really was a great day. We were all exhausted by the time we went to bed. And the amazing thing is, Sunday was just as busy and just as good! But that's for another blog post. In the meantime, be sure to check back in with the blog this week as we share a few more stories, more pictures, and our next episode of the Family Vlog. - the higham family ![]() Jay & Amy have been married for 19 years and are busy raising 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl.
