Shop the Shirt Shop for our Thanksgiving Tees! One of the Halloween traditions we have loved sharing in, is our annual pumpkin carving. Carving pumpkins has been a family activity for as long as our oldest boys were able to use one of those small pumpkin craving kids. And, every year, we set aside some time to gather around the table to clean out and carve our Halloween pumpkins. Over the years, our team of pumpkin carvers has created all sorts of wonderful designs. From the traditional Jack-O-Lantern designs, to our favorite move themes, spots themes, toys, and characters. We have carved, painted, or decorated dozens of pumpkins. It's been a fun way of preparing for the trick- or-treat Watch our 2021 Pumpkin Carving Vlog...In these more recent years, our pumpkin carving team has begun to shrink in numbers. Of the 5 kids, it usually ends up being just Amy, Jay, and Breya. With our older kids becoming adults, they're not always available to gather together to carve pumpkins. Last year (2020), our pumpkin carving crew consisted of just three of us. The older boys were busy and unable to be with us. I guess that's part of the growing up and out experience. However, this year, we were super excited to have a few more carvers join us for this years tradition. It's always a lot of fun to share in our family traditions. But it's even more fun when we get to enjoy our family traditions with our family! Our kids are getting older. They are beginning to have their own lives. Keeping our traditions is be coming more and more of a challenge. And, they're not always as willing to jump on the vlog like when they were younger. But tonight was a sweet night. We were able to sit down and carve our pumpkins with our kids. We laughed. We enjoyed time together. And we held on to one more family tradition. Thanks for taking a few minutes to join us here on the blog. We want to invite you to be sure to follow along. As we approach the end of the year, we are hoping to share as much of the holiday's, our family traditions, and the joys that come with being a family! Life in the Higham House is a blog for the home and family. We create family friendly and family focused content. All with we hope to encourage more family moments for you and your kids! - the higham family
