Higham Baby Watch - Week 17

Good morning friends. It's Tuesday, and last week we officially launched Higham Baby Watch, a weekly baby update as we get ready for the arrival Higham Baby #6. Unfortunately, this weeks update also ends the official updates.

Yesterday, Monday, December 28th, Amy went to the doctors for what was suppose to be a routine visit and check up. When the nurse looked for the baby’s heartbeat, she could not find it. Neither could the doctor when he came in. So Amy went for an emergency sonogram which revealed what we didn’t want or expect to hear.

We lost the baby.

By sonogram measurements, it’s thought that the baby passed somewhere around week 15/week 16. Of course this all comes to us as an unexpected shock. We were so excited for this little one. After seeing the first pictures and then hearing the heartbeat, we were very hopeful for a healthy, full-turn pregnancy. But it looks like God has other plans. And while we don't understand the why, we are choosing to trust in Him, knowing that His plans are better than are plans.

Because we are in the second trimester, Amy has to go for a D&C which will happen this week.

We would appreciate your prayers for the coming days. We're not sure what to expect, but are trusting God for all the unknowns. And I am sure that as we process through the news and realities of our loss, there will be thoughts and feelings that we will share. Thank you for all your support, we so appreciate it.

Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl! We juggle the adventures of life and ministry and share what we are learning as it relates to marriage, family, raising kids, serving in the church, and chasing after Jesus. Raising a family is hard work, especially in today's culture. But our hope is to encourage you and your family, as we live for the glory of God.

I am so sorry . I know how painful and disappointing it feels to lose a baby. I will pray for peace and hope as you navigate through this challenging season.

Jesus says: I have come to give you life, satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Satan stole your little one and now this theft must be repaid sevenfold! (Proverbs 6:30-31). Satan you are now on notice today! You must repay! In the name of Jesus! You are a defeated foe!
