Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas

We'll admit it, we watch the Hallmark Christmas movies. We do. And we've been watching them for a couple of years now. And you know what, we're okay watching them.

It started as a joke. We watched a movie because everyone made fun of the similarities of the stories, the sets, even the actors. And yes, we noticed those things. We laughed and had fun with it, but then something unexpected happened. We started liking the movies. Then Covid hit.

Like many others during the Covid shut downs, we binge-watched a number of TV shows, movies, movie sagas, and docu-dramas. But when the Christmas rolled around, we "binged" every Christmas movie Hallmark put out.

So let's talk about the Hallmark Christmas movies. Sure, they might be a little cheesy, maybe a little predictable, and kinda' share similar plots, but there are a few reasons why you should watch Hallmark movies this year.

Ready? Here we go...

1. Wholesome Holiday Fun - The quickest way to say it is, these movies are safe. Generally speaking, Hallmark Christmas movies don't have a lot of language or explicit content. And while they don't shy away from some of the cultural relevancy, most of the story lines are clean and family friendly.

2. Family Focused - One of the things we like about Hallmark Christmas movies is the strong family component that is found in many of the movies. Whether they're saving the family tree farm, the town Christmas celebration, or rescuing the family inn, many of the movies Hallmark presents contains a strong emphasis on the family. Dad, mom, siblings, grandparents, even extended family members show up to help, provide advise, or give their support in some way.

3. The Warm Fuzzies - Come on, let's be honest, everyone enjoys the warm fuzzies. You know, the feeling you get when watching a movie that just makes you feel good. Christmas is all about the warm fuzzies. And nobody does the warm fuzzies like Hallmark.

At this point, we have watched countless Hallmark Christmas movies, and each one has left us with that feel-good, warmth of family, home, and holiday. In fact, I think that's why Christmas movies are so beloved. They remind us of what the holidays bring. Things like faith, joy, hope, the memories of Christmas's past, and the hope of Christmas's to come.
