Amy was getting tired of the mess that was always being left after the kids would brush their teeth. But try finding a way to store toothbrushes for seven. Amy started shopping for ideas on Pinterest and came across a simply and inexpensive project that does the trick.
We have a small bathroom with one vanity and sink and one medicine cabinet. There's not a lot of storage options. Under the sink we keep what you expect to keep under a bathroom sink. But when it comes to storing things like toothbrushes, there's not a lot of space. Until now, our toothbrushes were all kept together in a plastic basket in the vanity. It was pretty gross, and Amy had enough. After spending a few minutes on Pinterest, Amy came across a simple DIY project that accomplishes exactly what we needed it to.
The Materials
Let's cover the materials list.
The materials are easy to locate. We pick up our at our local Walmart and a couple small hardware stores in our community. And the best thing is, none of these items cost us very much. I don't think we spent more than $15 total. I already had a board of MDF and we had some leftover chalkboard paint. That left us having to buy the jelly jars, screws and hose clamps.
The Build
After Jay dropped the jelly jars into the clamps, he tighten the hose clamps to keep the jars from falling through if the kids ever applied too much pressure on the jar pushing it through the clamp. Being able to loosen and tighten the clamp is a plus and allows for the cleaning of the jars.
All that was left was to mount the project on the wall in the bathroom. Amy chose where she wanted the toothbrush holder placed. A few more pilot holes and a couple long wood screws, Jay anchored the toothbrush holder to the studs in the wall. Amy had a sheet of label stickers which Jay wrote names on that were then applied to each jar.
Simple. Inexpensive. And it looks great. Now everyone has a place for their toothbrush and their toothpaste. No more toothbrushes in a plastic basket, or grossness under the sink. DIY project, done! - the higham family
