Our surgery date is set for tomorrow, Monday, 2nd. We have been told that we need to be at the hospital by 5:00 AM. We live about an hour and some change from the hospital, so it will be a very early morning. Amy and I will be heading out really early on Monday. The surgery is set for 7:30 AM. From what we're being told, the surgery will take about 10-12 hours. That's a long time. The surgery will consist of 2 procedures. The first will be the removal of the cancer, about 2 hours. The second procedure will be the reconstruction, about 10 hours. Following the surgery, Amy's planning for a 3 night stay in the hospital. That means we hope to be heading home on Thursday. Yes, there's a chance it could be sooner, but it will all depend on how Amy heals. After that, we're preparing for at least 8 weeks of recovery. Fortunately, Jay will be able to work from home while caring for Amy. How to Stay UpdatedWe have been overwhelmed by the amount of support from our family, friends, and readings. Thank you for your prayers, kind and encouraging words, and offers to help in someway. We want to keep you updated with the surgery and recovery. To do that, obviously we will post updates here on the blog. But, tomorrow, Monday, we will share some updates throughout the day on two of our social platforms, Facebook and Instagram. If you would like to follow along, we would invite you to visit one or both of the platforms. Meal Train SupportThank you to everyone who has offered to provide a meal or support us during these coming weeks. Friends of ours started a Meal Train account for us. We are so touched by and grateful for everyone who have signed up to provide a meal or support. We are humbled and thanking God for how he moves through others to care for us. Here We GoAll that's left now, is to get 'r done. So here we go. The car leaves between 3:30 and 4:00 AM. Hospital by 5:00 AM. Surgery around 7:30 AM. Then we'll just wait to see how it all goes. We'll be in touch. - the higham house
