As we venture further and further into the new year, one of the goals I have set for myself is to be a better reader. Over the last 15 years or so, I have read a lot of books. But what I have not done is to make reading a daily discipline. In the past, my reading habits have been more along the lines of, I'm going on vacation, I need a book or two to read. Or, I'm going on a trip, I need a book to read. I'm getting ready for a new teaching series, I need a book to read. However, these last 3+ years have been a little different. My reading habits have begun shift to more of a, Hey, I want to know more, so let me get a book and learn something. Or, Hey, I want to grow in my faith more, so let me get a book that teaches me something. But one of the disciplines that I have been wanting to adopt is the disciple of reading. I have often heard wise leaders says, "You should read for at least an hour a day!" And for a while I have said, Man I would love to have an hour to read. As part of making 2014 the #epic year, one of my goals is to develop a better discipline of reading. So what I am doing is planning to read one book a month for the next 12 months. To help me with the discipline, I am employing the blog to serve as a sort of accountability partner. Each month of 2014, I will post 3 books as my, Books of the Month selections. Of these 3 books there will be one that i have read, one that I am reading, and one that has been recommended to me. I will offer these books to you along with links for purchase and download. When you purchase or download a book through Amazon.com, the revenue that is generated will go to help pay for this website and the other that I sponsor. Along with the books I suggest, I would hope that you too, would make a few suggestions. Suggestions can be made by using the link on the Books of the Month page. In order for 2014 to be the #epic year, we need to take an active roll in what God is doing and teaching. By developing the discipline of reading, we open ourselves up to what He might be try to teach us. Here are the first three books of 2014...
