Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl! We juggle the adventures of life and ministry and share what we are learning as it relates to marriage, family, raising kids, serving in the church, and chasing after Jesus. Raising a family is hard work, especially in today's culture. But our hope is to encourage you and your family, as we live for the glory of God.

![]() Good morning friends. It's Tuesday, and last week we officially launched Higham Baby Watch, a weekly baby update as we get ready for the arrival Higham Baby #6. Unfortunately, this weeks update also ends the official updates. Yesterday, Monday, December 28th, Amy went to the doctors for what was suppose to be a routine visit and check up. When the nurse looked for the baby’s heartbeat, she could not find it. Neither could the doctor when he came in. So Amy went for an emergency sonogram which revealed what we didn’t want or expect to hear. We lost the baby. By sonogram measurements, it’s thought that the baby passed somewhere around week 15/week 16. Of course this all comes to us as an unexpected shock. We were so excited for this little one. After seeing the first pictures and then hearing the heartbeat, we were very hopeful for a healthy, full-turn pregnancy. But it looks like God has other plans. And while we don't understand the why, we are choosing to trust in Him, knowing that His plans are better than are plans. Because we are in the second trimester, Amy has to go for a D&C which will happen this week. We would appreciate your prayers for the coming days. We're not sure what to expect, but are trusting God for all the unknowns. And I am sure that as we process through the news and realities of our loss, there will be thoughts and feelings that we will share. Thank you for all your support, we so appreciate it. - the higham family ![]() Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl! Merry Christmas!!
It has been a wonderful Christmas in the Higham house! From our 12 Day's of Christmas countdown to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we have enjoyed the love, support, and blessings of many, many friends! Today's vlog is footage from Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, with some pictures taken while opening presents. We decided to turn the camera off for most of the day so we could simple enjoy our day as a family. But don't worry, we'll be back with regular vlogs after the weekend! In the meantime, we would love it if you would take a few minutes today and watch our Christmas vlog.
Thanks for watching!
We hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas filled with joy, peace, and hope! Merry Christmas! - the higham family ![]()
Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl. AND are now expecting number 6 in June of 2016!! We juggle the adventures of life and ministry and share what we are learning as it relates to marriage, family, raising kids, serving in the church, and chasing after Jesus. Raising a family is hard work, especially in today's culture. But our hope is to encourage you and your family, as we live for the glory of God.
![]() So we've made it through the first trimester! It wasn't as easy this time 'round as it has been in the past. But like turning the page to begin a new chapter, 16 weeks brings with it a new and exciting part of the story! Higham Baby Watch has begun! From now through delivery, we want to bring you weekly updates as we ready ourselves for number 6! This past weekend we crossed the 16 week mark, and we are very excited. So we haven't talked much about the pregnancy except to share, via the vlog, that we were expecting, and that we heard the baby's heartbeat! If you missed either of these vlogs you can watch them here! The Announcement! We Heard the heartbeat! The silence is partially intentional, as the first trimester was a tough one for Amy, but also because we had 3 miscarriages over the last 2 years. As much as we hoped and prayed to make it out of the first trimester, we were very much aware that another miscarriage was a possibility. So we chose to keep things quiet, as much as possible, until we felt it was right. At week 14, we shared our news, and we were so blessed by the flood of support and encouragement we received from our family and friends. Honestly, we were a little nervous about sharing our news. Having just started at a new church, and with a large family already filling the manse, we weren't really sure how people would respond. But the outpouring of love and grace has made all of this so much more exciting, and we are so grateful. Now here we are at week 16, and today we are officially launching what we are calling, Higham Baby Watch! For those who might be visiting the vlog for the first time, we have 5 children already; 4 boys and 1 girl. Our girl is our youngest at age 7. Our boys are currently 17, 16, 12, and 9. No need to use Common Core math, this new little one is number 6, bring our family to 8 strong. Our goal with Higham Baby Watch, is to come to you each week between now and the birth with just a quick little update of how things are progressing. One of our goals with the blog and the vlog, is to share our story with you, everything from parenting and raising our children, to our marriage and life in full-time ministry. With this pregnancy, we believe God is opening the opportunity to share our story in a very unique way. As we share, we hope that our story encourages you, helps you, and maybe even inspires you! So please be sure to check in with us here every Tuesday as we share the latest updates and news for Higham baby number 6! Higham Baby Watch Week 16 Update - Everything is looking good. Amy is beyond the sickness and exhaustion of the first trimester. And while she's not back to her normal self, she is feeling so much better. It's been funny, a number of you who watch the vlog have commented on how Amy has looked tired in the vlogs. Well part of that was because of how bad she was feeling these last couple of weeks. Hopefully you will see a difference soon! The kids are excited, though they are beginning to realize that we still have a number of months to go. The realization of an 18 year age difference between our #1 and our #6 is sinking in. Personal, I (Jay) am anxious to see how that relationship develops. I think it might be a very unique and special one. There's been some chatter about names. #2 is brainstorming for boy names; often flipping through the pages of the Bible insisting that this one needs to have a Biblical name. But if it's a girl, we think we have the name. As for the gender, we're still guessing. We have already decided that when the time comes, we will find out the sex of the baby. That will help with preparation, since we have nothing in the baby department, while also allowing us to have a fun baby reveal. I'd like to post a poll here in a couple of weeks to see what you all think we might be having! So...so far, so good! We also want to again, thank all of you who have offered such kind words of encouragement and support. Your love and has truly blessed us. And we look forward to sharing this new chapter of our family with all of you! - the higham family ![]() Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl.
