This past summer, the Higham's started experimenting with our own vlog. While on vacation, we recorded some of our adventures and shared them on a YouTube channel that we created. It had been something we talked about doing for a while, but 'til this summer didn't have time to do. After vacation, we continued to record and post. We tried doing as many as we could. But then we took a new job, started a new school, and moved. With the move came over a month of no internet, as we waited for our install date. These events led to a less than regular posting schedule. When we did post, the response was good. A number of you watched the vlogs. Some of you even subscribed to our channel and receive updates when we post a new video. And some of you have shared your encouragement to keep going. Well, thank you. Thank you, to all of you. Vlogging for us is fun. We really enjoy doing it. It's a great way for us to share our story and all that God is doing in our family! The adventures we have are life lessons, and we're happy to share them and what we're learning. Plus, the vlogs help to build everlasting memories in living color. But the first ongoing question has been, What does God want us to do with the vlog? How can we use the vlog to encourage other families? How can we as parents encourage parents? How can our family of 7 bless other growing families? And what message does God want us to convey? The second ongoing questions is, How? How do we squeeze vlogging into our busy, crazy lives? To answer the first question I would say, God's message is a message of love. In the bible, there is the image of God's people being united as a family. In this family there is room for diversity, mistakes, growing pains, success, failure, hopes, dreams, goals, and of course, grace. As a family unit, we are learning these themes and how to demonstrate both love and grace. If as a family we can encourage another family through the stories we share, then we are sharing God's message of love. The second question is actually a little more difficult. Life in the Higham House gets busy. Some weeks get really busy. And in the comings and goings shuttling kids, running errands, maintaining a house, working at the church, and watching kids in our home, it's not always easy or convenient to grab the camera and start recording simply because we NEED to get a vlog up for that day. We want to be authentic, real, and transparent. So we don't want to fake it as we do this. We want our exchanges to be real, unscripted, and honest. We also know that there needs to be a certain commitment on our part to want to share life. There needs to be a consistency in our posting. We want you to WANT to tune in and watch what we're doing, and that comes with a regular posting/viewing schedule. Lately we have struggled the most in the area of being consistent. So here is what we are proposing to you, our friends, readers, and father viewers... We are not going away or giving up! We believe that God has opened the doors to an exciting family ministry through both the vlog and the blog, and we want to honor God as we walk this path with you. 1. We are a family who is trying hard to love God, love Jesus, and love others. We are not perfect. We make mistakes. But we want to raise our family to put God first in all matters and areas of life! So we will commit to putting Him first in all that we do, including our vlogging. 2. There will be a renewed consistency with the vlog. We have decided, due to the season of life that we are in, our family vlog called, Life in the Higham House, will become a weekly vlog. Starting this weekend, we will vlog throughout the weekend, and then every weekend that follows. Then on Monday evenings, we will post the vlog by 7:00 p.m. That means, there will be a new vlog every Monday at 7:00 p.m. We will also vlog the special moments, events, or activities that might coming up within the week; such as a holiday, birthday, special announcement, or event that we want to share with all of you. By switching to this format, we reduce the stress and pressure to put up something because we have to put up something. And instead, we'll let the vlog grow as God sees fit. Who knows, maybe some day we will be able to post a new vlog every day. We want you to know that we truly do appreciate and value you. Amy and I have prayed and talked about what all of this means, and we are convinced that this is to be a ministry to families. Your questions, comments, and thoughts will be welcomed. We would love the opportunity to know you, so please, don't be shy! In the meantime, watch for some changes also coming to the blog. Any be sure to tune in to Life in the Higham House, Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. EST. - the higham family ![]() Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl. This Saturday, we celebrated Breya's 7th birthday with a little dress up party! Breya invited a couple of her friends over with the mission of dressing up in mom's "fancy" clothes! It was an adorable time of "girly" games and fun! From making bracelets to glitter tattoos, fingernail painting and homemade lip gloss. It was a sweet time for Breya to have the "girls" over for a while!
After all, growing up with 4 older brothers, girl-time is needed and loved! We've posted some pictures of the party! Special thanks to all the girls for coming and helping to make Breya's day so great! Happy birthday, Breya! - the higham family This past Friday night we made the long trip north of Pittsburgh for another football game with FC. This week we faced off against North Catholic High School. It was a tough game. From the start, NC owned the game! Nonetheless, FC fought hard and did their best. Long had a good game. He made a couple good tackles and took a few good hits. Congrats thought to our friend, Matt S. who had his first high school touchdown! So check out Logan's highlights! And as always, thanks for watching! - the higham family ![]() Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl.
