As I type this, It's Sunday, August 6, day one of our 2017 vacation. We (Amy and Jay) have just wrapped up two months of non-stop activity. This past June and July have been packed with Vacation Bible School, day camps, a mission trip, and over night camps for three of the five kids. On top of that, Amy has been working as a server at a local golf course, while Jay has been pulling double duty leading the youth and preaching (among a laundry list of other things).
As we make this transition from busyness to relaxation we can't help but think about how much we have looked forward to this week. Don't get us wrong, we have loved the summer we've had. We signed up for it, we knew what we were getting into. And please know, when we say busyness, it's not the negative sounding, running around craziness of pointless motion. Most of our time has been spent in amazing, fruitful ministry. Nevertheless, we have been excited for this week.
This week is about being intentional. Intentional with our time and intentional our actions. Life moves at lightening fast speed. Sometimes we need to force ourselves to stop and take the time to simply BE.
So we’re sitting on the beach. Our feet are in the sand. The kids are splashing in the ocean. And Amy and Jay, we’re thankful for all that we have witnessed God do this summer. But now, it’s vacation time. And, the Higham’s are in full vacation mode.
