12 Days Till Christmas

It's just 12 days until Christmas! Can you believe it? We are really getting excited for Christmas Day! 12 days till Christmas, is kinda' like our final countdown! The kids are almost done with school. Things at the church are ramping up for Christmas Eve services. The student ministry is in its final days before the Christmas break. There are parties and concerts and dinners and visits, and it's all going to be great!

But in the midst of all the yule-tide glee, Christmas brings us so much more. Jay, takes a few minutes to talk about why Christmas is so important. Take a few minutes to watch today's vlog post.

We celebrate the birth. It's a sweet story. Mary. Joseph. Baby Jesus. The shepherds and angels. The wisemen, though they come in a bit later. It really is incredible. But it's not the story that's incredible, it's why the story unfolds that makes everything so incredible.

Jesus' birth changes everything! It puts into motion God plan for redemption. Perhaps John the Baptist say's it best, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matthew 3:2 NIV)

​Advent is the season that reminds us of Jesus' coming; first as a baby born in Bethlehem. But Advent also pushes us to the truth that Jesus will come again. With each day, we move closer and closer to His second coming. And with each day, John's words ring all the more true.
